She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Architecture and a Master’s degree in Public Policy from Universidad Iberoamericana in Mexico City, and a Ph.D. in Public Health Sciences from the Brown School at Washington University in St. Louis. Dr. Resendiz is deeply committed to promoting multidisciplinary collaboration between public health and urban design to reduce health disparities. Her research focuses on the spatial and temporal factors that influence physical activity and other health-related behaviors. She is also interested in examining the relationships between the built environment and health, with a particular emphasis on Latin American populations.

Dr. Resendiz is a member of the founding Executive Committee of the Global Observatory of Healthy and Sustainable Cities (GOHSC) and serves as Director of Memberships and of the Regional Coordinators Network. In December 2025, the founding Executive Committee of GOHSC received the Nobel Sustainability Trust Award in the category of “Outstanding Research and Development for Smart and Sustainable Urban Solutions.” Her research interests include urban health, physical activity and its relationship with the built environment, urban policy for health, health policy research, health disparities, and the prevention of chronic diseases, with a particular focus on megacities in Latin America.
