Dr. Del Prado is a trained chemical engineer, graduated from UAM Azcapotzalco. She holds a Master's and Ph.D. in Materials Science and Engineering, both with honors, from the Institute of Materials Research at UNAM. She completed a postdoctoral fellowship on nanotechnology in the Department of Pharmacy of the Faculty of Chemistry at UNAM from 2018 to 2020.
Since 2022, she has served as a research professor at the Tecnológico de Monterrey, Mexico City campus, in the departments of Sustainable and Civil Technologies and Bioengineering. She leads the research group "INBioTech Lab" (Laboratory for Innovation in Nano and BioTechnology), mainly developing three research lines: "Synthesis of biopolymeric nanoparticles for controlled biomolecule release," "Development of thin films with applications in sustainability and tissue engineering," and "Biopolymeric materials for water remediation."
She has 57 international publications with an h-index of 23 and 1689 citations, 3 dissemination articles, and 2 chapters in international books, and has participated in over 10 international conferences. She is an SNI I member, a reviewer for various specialized journals, an editor at "Discover Materials" of Springer-Nature, and a guest editor in Frontiers in Nanobiotechnology. She has supervised 9 undergraduate theses, 4 research internships, and social service projects, and currently, she directs 2 master's theses and 1 Ph.D. thesis.
In 2016, she co-founded the Network of Biomaterials and Organ and Tissue Engineering A.C. (Red Biot) and was part of the board of directors for 3 years. In 2019, her postdoctoral project was recognized with the Santander Award for Business Innovation and the Searching Leaders in Innovation and Sustainability Award by Comecyt. In 2022, she was part of the winning team of the Dr. Jorge Rosenkranz Medical Research Award in Biotechnology, awarded by ROCHE and FunSalud. In 2022, she was a mentor in the Second Generation of Science Mentors program by the British Council and is an active member of the SheSTEM chair at Tecnológico de Monterrey. She has won the National Chamber of the Pharmaceutical Industry award for technological research twice (2022 and 2023). In 2023, she was recognized as one of the 25 women in science in Latin America by 3M for her career and her work in making women visible in STEM fields. Since that year, she has also been part of the Circle of Distinguished Professors.
