She is a tenured research professor at Tecnológico de Monterrey, Monterrey Campus, and currently leads the efforts of the "Health" Research Core of the School of Engineering and Sciences.
She holds an Engineering degree in Food Industries from Tecnológico de Monterrey with professional experience at Grupo Panificador Azteca and Ingeniería en Alimentos IDEA, S.A. de C.V., a training and consulting company for the food industry, where she collaborated for seven years on more than 49 projects. These projects include plant design, food development, and the development of training and food safety systems for food services.
She is passionate about educating undergraduate and graduate students, having advised thesis projects for at least fourteen students in nanotechnology and chemical sciences, thirteen master's students in biotechnology, as well as two doctoral students in biotechnology. Additionally, she has guided the work of four postdoctoral researchers, three of whom are currently faculty researchers at various institutions.
She is the leader of the She Stem Chair at Ingenia (Women in Engineering and Sciences). She supported the founding of the Mexico section of the Institute of Food Technologists (IFT) in 2022, the first Latin American chapter, where she currently serves on the executive board.
Her research focuses on plant protein extraction systems for the production of food ingredients, inactivation of protein-based antinutritional compounds, structural changes in proteins for food development, and in recent years, the study of breast milk composition in Mexican mothers.
