He obtained his degree as a Chemical Bacteriologist Parasitologist at the Faculty of Biological Sciences of UANL in 1985. Subsequently, he completed a Master's degree in Immunology at the same faculty, graduating in 1992, and then a Doctorate in Sciences with a specialization in Microbiology, also at the Faculty of Biological Sciences of UANL, in 1997. Regarding his research stays, he worked at the Center for Research and Advanced Studies of the National Polytechnic Institute, specifically in the Department of Genetics and Molecular Biology, where he investigated molecular alterations in cervical cancer in Mexico. Additionally, he collaborated with the National Institute of Public Health at the Center for Research on Infectious Diseases in the Department of Virus and Cancer, studying the immunological and molecular alterations in cervical cancer in Mexico.
Professional experience: His professional career includes his role as a full-time and exclusive Tenured Professor "D" at UANL. In 2000, he was the editor responsible for the “Revista CIENCIA-UANL”. From September 2003 to February 2004, he served as Academic Subdirector of the Faculty of Biological Sciences at UANL. Furthermore, in 2004, he was Director of the Center for Technological Innovation and Competitiveness at UANL, and in 2005, Director of the Center for Business Incubation and Technology Transfer at the same university. He has also been Director of the Faculty of Biological Sciences at UANL and Academic Secretary of the institution.
Research: In the field of research, his areas of interest include the functional genomics of lactic bacteria and the genetic modification of prebiotic bacteria for the production of vaccines and other therapeutic proteins in the mucous membranes of the gastrointestinal system. Additionally, he has worked on the development of DNA and polymeric nanoparticle-based vaccine strategies. He has attended 30 national academic update courses and 10 international ones, as well as 25 national scientific meetings and 15 international ones. Juan Manuel Alcocer González has 62 papers published in conferences and has more than 75 citations. He has supervised 15 undergraduate theses, 12 master's theses, and 8 doctoral dissertations.
Associations he belongs to: He is a member of the National System of Researchers, Level I, and belongs to two scientific societies. He is also a founding member of the Mexican Association of Molecular Biology in Medicine.
